New for 2006 is the exciting Bulova Marine Star Digital Analog World Time Alarm Chronograph and it's creating real excitement throughout the entire watch industry! That's because Bulova has recreated one of the most popular and sought after Pilot's watches ever produced. Bulova's new Marine Star World Time Watch has the same movement used in the fabled "Thunderbird" Pilot's Alarm Chronograph!
After extensive negotiations, Bulova has obtained the rights to manufacture an all new watch using specifications of the movement of the original "Thunderbird." Bulova took the movement but made numerous improvements in the case and bracelet design and crated an all new dial. But ever function remains including world time with 22 cities preprogrammed into the digital display. The watch has three separate alarms! And this watch features a 1/100th second chronograph. Other key pilots watch features are included, especially the 24 hour subdial which can be used to set to "Zulu Time," also referred to as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
The digital display is large and easy to read. Key functions, like the 22 city world time readout are shown there. Also the alarm times and the chronograph. The combination of Digital and Analog displays make this watch especially easy to use.
Although the movement is the same as the original Thunderbird, Bulova has made significant improvements to the design, the case and the bracelet. The case and bracelet are solid stainless steel. The all new black dial has all the Bulova quality and attention to detail. It is very good looking, yet easy to read. The curved crystal is hardened and scratch resistant mineral glass. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet) below sea level.
Bulova did decide NOT to incorporate the rarely used slide rule bezel found on the original. The result is a slimmer and better looking watch, ideal for both pilots and non-pilots. This watch is trim and handsome, yet tough and durable.
This is an all new watch and it is NOT a replica. It does NOT have the Thunderbirds logo and it is NOT Authorized by the US Air Force. But if you want the features and functions that made the original a legend, this is the watch to own!
