"Recon" is the common military abbreviation for "Reconnaissance" and describes the activity of exploratory survey through direct observation. The special ops personnel assigned to recon must determine the lay of the land, the weather and condition and especially the position and strength of enemy forces. To do this effectively, the recon soldier must have the best equipment, lightweight and nearly indestructable. Working with military personnel, Luminox developed the "Point Man" to fulfill these requirements.

In a military operation the "Point Man" is the "tip of the spear." His or her job is to safely conduct the patrol to the designated target through enemy territory. It is the "Point Man" that determines the marching speed, direction and orientation of the reconnaissance team.

The Luminox Recon "Point Man" was developed with tools to assist in patrolling tough terrain. This watch features a second color countdown zone on the dial. For night use a second color of tritium was used as shown to the left.

The watch has a unidirectional ratcheting bezel calibrated in minutes for precise timing of events. Naturally it is highlighted with a tritium tube at the zero position.

The watch also has a second fixed bezel with compass markings to use as a "sun compass" for determining direction during daylight hours. Yet a third bezel is housed under the sapphire glass crystal that is calibrated as a walking tachometer. With this tool you can determine walking or hiking speeds and the time necessary to cover the desired distance.

To insure toughness the watch is depth tested to 200 meters (or 660 feet) for water resistance.

The case is carbon reinforced polyurethane to insure lightweight toughness and durability.

The most important feature is the famous Luminox Tritium Gas Illumination System. Using tiny glass tubes, the number markers and hands will NOT FADE during the night, as other watches usually do. And you do not need to "push a button" to read the time perfectly. In fact, this watch will glow brightly even if kept in total darkness 24 hours a day. Luminox actually guarantees the illumination for 10 full years!
