But the difference is in the bold new design. The case is solid stainless steel. Both the case back and the crown screw down for water tightness. Even though this is a pilot's watch, Luminox still insists the watch is depth tested and certified for water tightness to 200 meters (or 660 feet) below sea level.
The case is PVD (physical vapor deposition) coated in a combination of titanium and carbon to create the very desirable flat black finish that is tough and durable.
The most important feature is the famous Luminox Tritium Gas Illumination System. Using tiny glass tubes filled with tritium gas, the number markers and hands will NOT FADE during the night, as other watches usually do. And you do not need to "push a button" to read the time perfectly. In fact, this watch will glow brightly even if kept in total darkness 24 hours a day. Luminox actually guarantees the illumination for 10 full years!
