The T5 Series of GMT 24 Hour Dial Watches has always been one of the most popular Professional Pilot's Watches. At last it is available in a smaller size. The T5 has a true 24 hour hand and dial that sets totally independently from the regular hands for setting to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, which is often also referred to as Zulu Time) or to a second time zone.

It's not just pilots that will display a second time zone. We have discovered that many of our clients who are not pilots still want the 2nd time zone feature. With so many of our soldiers now serving in Iraq, many people want a watch that can display both the local time and the time where there friends or relatives live (or serve). The new, smaller Torgoen T5 Collection of watches are still slightly larger than a traditional ladies watch. The watches measure 34 millimeters in diameter, or about 1 1/3rd inch. This size is extremely easy to read under any conditions. Yet the watches are great looking and stylish!

What is ZULU TIME?       The world is divided into basically 24 time zones. For easy reference in communications, a letter of the alphabet has been assigned to each time zone. The letter designated for time zone at longitude zero is "Z." Pilots and military personnel often use the word Zulu from the phonetic alphabet for the letter Z.       The term "Zulu Time" refers to time kept on the Greenwich meridian (longitude zero), five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. Zulu Time is used as the standard for international reference of time in communications, military, aviation, maritime and other activities that cross time zones.       Times written in military time (24 hour format) are four digits, such as, 1830Z with the Zulu suffix. This would be 6:30 pm in the commonly used timekeeping notation.       The official name for the time at longitude zero is Coordinated Universal Time or UTC. This time zone had previously been called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) but was replaced with UTC in 1972 as the official world time standard changed. While GMT is based on Earth's rotation and celestial measurements, UTC is a based on cesium-beam atomic clocks. The two clocks are rarely more than a second apart as leap seconds are applied to UTC.       On the Torgoen T5 Collection, the watch has an extra 4th hand (the red hand on the sample watch above) and that hand shows the "Zulu Time" or, if the wearer prefers, a 2nd Time Zone.
